SCHOENSTATT, Stefanie Frank/Olenka Hand. Only a few weeks left before "Schoenstatt- Summer", the festival for young people, will begin. A highlight is at the end of the month-long festivity, on August 26/27, called the "Night of the Shrine". Therefore the "Schoenstatt- Summer" team are appealing to the youth of the world to participate in this "Night of the Shrine". No matter if youngsters take part physically or, for those unable to come to Schoenstatt, spiritually in one of the many shrines around the world, all celebrating mass simultaneously. The first young people have answered the call. Puerto Rico was the first country to respond the "Schoenstatt- Summer´s" call. The young Puerto Ricans are ready to join in on the "Night of the Shrine". South Africa followed right behind them. The young adults in South Africa like the "idea of joining all the youth at all the shrines around the world for an international mass." Now it is up to them to call on other young South Africans to take an active part in the celebrations. Paul from Nigeria writes: "I feel exceedingly happy reading and hearing about this exciting initiative (…)." Paraguay is also saying "Yes" when it is called: "Shrines of the world unite!" Other nations from all continents are responding the call: Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Texas in the USA; the Dominican Republic; India; all the shrines in Mexico, Bolivia and Argentina will not miss this opportunity of celebrating with the youth of the world. Gaudalupe, from La Plata, says: "I´d really like to join you all from my shrine with all our youth." The "Summer" team also received messages from European countries such as England and Scotland, as well as the Czech Republic who will definitely sit in on the "Night of the Shrine". It is still going on…The "Schoenstatt- Summer" team is still counting on the support of young people from every part of the world. Only in this way can the "Night of the Shrine" become a real success and a memorable experience for all the participants. Also, the "Schoenstatt- Summer" team wants to know how the participants will celebrate the "Night of the Shrine". Are there any special celebrations or ideas concerning that night? Youngsters who will wear unique costumes to go along with the mass? It also would be interesting to know which will be the northern- or southern-most shrine to join the festivity? Where are you, Brazil? And Italy? One of the most exciting questions at the moment is: Why has Brazil not answered the call so far? Even though it was very hard for the "selecao" and the people in Brazil to drop out of the world championship, they definitely could be present on the "Night of the Shrine", could they not? A cold comfort might be the fact that the next world championship is in 2010. Now then, "Sigan Adelante" Brazil, where are your replies? Also Italy, the world champion 2006, is a long time coming with an answer. Is it possible that the young Italians did not listen to the team´s call because they are celebrating their champions? Nevertheless, Puerto Rico gets the crown concerning being the first to respond to the call. Never mind Italy, you cannot win everything. The main thing is that Italy will take part in on the "Night of the Shrine". It seems that a little "competition" concerning the responses is going on between the countries. Maybe there will be an award ceremony at the end. If this is not an incitation…. . The quest for young people who will join other young adults and celebrate mass in their shrine is going on. The team is waiting for replies from the youth around the world. Contact Olenka Hand, one of the volunteers, to answer the call. Mail to: olenkahand@hotmail.com More: www.schoenstatt-summer.de |
