SCHOENSTATT, Olenka Hand. The spirit of the First Founding Generation is awakening new ideas and stirring up youthful enthusiasm in the hearts of today’s young people; and young people at Schoenstatt-Summer dare to answer its call and take up the challenge to truly make the Original Shrine a place of pilgrimage. Schoenstatt-Summer’s Kernteam is eagerly looking towards August when Father Kentenich’s legacy is realized in a new way through this project as young people come home to the Blessed Mother. But they haven’t waited until August to energize Schoenstatt with their youthful presence (and craziness!). It’s happening now! Welcome to the weekly Schoenstatt Youth MassFor the past few months they have made the Wednesday 7:15 AM mass in the Original Shrine their own; and every Friday evening at 7:30 PM they’ve gathered at the Original Shrine to pray for the Schoenstatt-Summer and the Blessed Mother’s young people. Then they continue with an international mass at the Pilgerheim, followed by good food and friendship "until we get tired of one another!" Everyone is warmly welcome to join them whether they would call yourself young or not! Schoenstatt Summer HouseSchoenstatt-Summer’s office is officially up and running. It’s stationed at the once unnamed house belonging to the Schoenstatt fathers that’s squeezed between Berg Schoenstatt and the very deadly Hoehrer Strasse where speeding cars love to whiz by. It now happily bears the name of ‘Schoenstatt-Summer House’. And check out our website: www.schoenstatt-summer.de. News BitsThey couldn’t pass up a chance to celebrate the opening of the World Cup here in Schoenstatt. And what better place to view the game with the community than with Father! He’s got the biggest TV screen and best sound system this side of the Rhine. So they had their Texan volunteer bake up some of her chocolate chip cookies that their Mexican volunteer beautifully wrapped; their German Schoenstatt Sister popped some incredible popcorn and the German volunteers decorated the Father Kentenich House, with one flying around in her Swedish flag draped over her shoulders. It was a riot! And just this past weekend, their homemade Schoenstatt-Summer banner flew in the Corpus Christi procession on Berg Schoenstatt, as well as in the Covenant Day procession from the Pilgrim Church to the Original Shrine. It won’t be long before you’ll see our banners flying all over this beautiful place. Join in the Night of the ShrineAll of this spirit and enthusiasm, however, will culminate on the evening of August 26th - the highpoint of Schoenstatt-Summer: Night of the Shrine. Young people from all over the world will gather at the birthplace of this movement where their Mother is calling them home with a love that has gripped their hearts. But she does not only do this from the Original Shrine but from every home throughout the world built for her and her children. So the Schoenstatt-Summer Kernteam is asking the international Schoentatt youth of the world: Join us and unite your shrine with the Original Shrine! Celebrate mass with the young people of your Schoenstatt family gathered in your shrine at the same time we celebrate midnight mass here in the Original Shrine. If you can’t join us by physically being present, join us in spirit! Unite our Mother’s homes and our Mother’s young people! This means we need one young person from each shrine around the world to send us their email address. The Schoenstatt-Summer Kernteam will be in contact with him/her concerning the celebration for ‘Night of the Shrine’. Please contact Olenka at olenkahand@hotmail.com. This little chapel belongs to our small familyFather’s words are still alive in the young people of today! - ‘It gives joy to father, mother and children to move into a home of their own… We, too, may experience such family joy today. This little chapel belongs to our small sodality family which is guided by our heavenly Mother. It belongs completely to us and only to us…We rejoice…!’ More: www.schoenstatt-summer.de
