SCHOENSTATT, Antonella Cerini/mca. "Only a miracle can save him"…This email arrived at the schoenstatt.de Press Office from Asuncion, Paraguay. Moments before that email, Elsa, who works in the library and who is Brunito’s grandmother, had told Estela Franco, the secretary, about the health problems of her recently born grandson. Brunito, who was born prematurely (before the 7th month of gestation) was seriously ill due to an infection.

The above petition arrived just one day after the parents of Pablito’s parents had made a special pilgrimage of thanksgiving to the Original Shrine. Pablito, who weighed barely 500 grams at birth, was given little chance for survival. The parents wanted to present to our MTA a photo of their one year old child, who is in good health today. "It was a year ago that we sent another photo of Pablito in the hand of his father. He was a child that makes one cry when you see him…"said his mother, emotionally. "Pablito is a miracle of the MTA and of Father; he is the fruit of the prayers of a larger Schoenstatt family, especially those of the Adoration Sisters and Fathers. Now, with Brunito, we again take his photo to the Original Shrine and Father’s tomb and we are once again sending emails to the Adoration Sisters and Fathers and too many members of the Schoenstatt Family".

Now, "how can we send this photo to everyone who prayed?"

Some weeks later, Elsa (Brunito’s grandmother) wrote another email: "I want to tell you that Brunito, according to the medical diagnosis, does not have much hope for survival and if he survives he will be a "vegetable" because an infection had caused cerebral damage. This infection was at first was in the lungs, but then it went into the blood and from there to the brain, producing a severe cerebral edema. Providentially, Brunito was baptized by a priest on the 18th of October, Covenant Day. Brunito was already very sick at that time. A few days later he began to breathe on his own, then he opened his little eyes and he began to breast feed. His dear mother tried for 15 days to keep her flow of breast milk coming and God allowed her to keep enough milk to nourish Brunito when the time came. Now he is undergoing a hyperbaric treatment to heal his little foot that was also damaged by the infection. Bruno is still in the hospital and taking antibiotics, but his overall health is improving every day. That is why we continue praying…"

On the 18th of December a photo of Brunito arrived. The picture depicts him as a baby who has gained weight. The email explained that he was still undergoing treatment, but he is much better. "Now, how are we going to send this photo to everyone who prayed?" Angie Santos and other collaborators of schoenstatt.de who were in the Press Office during those days, asked. "Couldn’t we establish a blog?" That was the original idea and it became concrete on December 26 with the inauguration of the blog, "Nothing without you!"

The strength of unity

Among the many cases that began to arrive by email, there is the one about Edgardo Ojeda, who was seriously ill (on his deathbed). The Blessed Mother, in her kindness, gave him a "plus" and he was able to return home. Cristina, of the Schoenstatt Family in his diocese writes: "I want to announce some great and very joyful news…Edgardo, who a week ago was dying and on his way to the house of our Father, is home again! It all happened when with he received a ‘plus’ for his recuperation which is a positive upgrade from his serious state of health. Edgardo was dying; his life was slipping through our hands. We already know where that ‘plus’ came from: the hands of the Mother Thrice Admirable and her Son, and the intercession of Father Kentenich…there is strength in unity and prayer is very powerful. Let’s keep praying for Edgardo".

Patricia, from Chile also wrote asking for prayers for Bernardita, who is a mother of 12 children between the ages of 7-24. She has been diagnosed with cancer of the liver and pancreas. "I hope that the Blessed Mother and Jesus will see the necessity that these children still have. I ask with all my heart, so that a miracle will again be worked."

We pray for one another

Through the blog "Nothing Without You" we can commit ourselves, with generosity of spirit and in the Interwoveness of Destiny, to pray for a brother or a sister, who perhaps we do not know personally. In a family spirit of unity we want to be in joined with their needs. This generosity of heart and our will is abundantly blessed by our God with more generosity and mercy. Now, many hurting faces of Christ have a name and place. We want to unite in prayer for them and allow ourselves to be interwoven in the hands of our God and grow in the unlimited confidence in our Blessed Mother who works miracles.

Our petitions concretely arrive at the Original Shrine and to Father’s tomb

Although it is not an official function of the Press Office to receive petitions for prayer (the Adoration Sisters and the secretariat of the Father are available for this), we still receive these petitions daily motivated by what is perceived about schoenstatt.de and the desire that these petitions will be taken to the Original Shrine and Father’s tomb. Not only are all the messages and petitions for prayer that arrive received, but furthermore, the Schoenstatt family kindly takes time to print these messages and deliver them to the Blessed Mother and to our Father and Founder. The Blessed Mother gives Sr. Kornelia and the volunteers of the Press Office the gift to provide the outlet for these prayers to reach the Original Shrine and the certainty that the message touches the Schoenstatt land. All work as unselfish instruments to fulfill this mission. All the petitions that arrive at the Press Office are also presented to the Adoration Sisters.

The blog "Nothing Without You is already a big success

Although the blog "Nothing Without You" has not been launched publicly, it is surprising to see the number of people who have already made use of this medium. In the period of one week, 156 visitors have used this space, generously interacting with the brothers and sisters who wrote their petitions. We could say that this blog touches the hearts and wills of people from different countries of the world (Germany, Argentina, United States, Chile, England, Uruguay, Peru, Venezuela, Poland, Italy, Spain, Costa Rica, Austria, Holland and Paraguay, among many other countries). And we hope that it will continue!

How to participate in the blog (instructions for its use)

The blog enables us to primarily participate in two ways: On one hand, one can make a petition for prayer or to express thanks by sending it to the press office via email (herman.kornelia@gmail.com) on the other hand, a reader can commit to offer prayers for one or several of our brothers and sisters who need the generosity of our hearts. To do this, place the mouse and click on the number that is found beside the name of the person for whom we are committing to pray for. When the number is 0 it means that no one has assumed this responsibility (the number indicates the number of people who are praying for this intention). "We hope that no one has a 0 besides their name!" said one of the volunteers of the Press Office. Surely not, they always have Father and the Blessed Mother, the Adoration Sisters and people who work in the Press Office. But at the same time it would be beautiful if many would share in praying…and in the joy of the miracle.

Works are love, not only good intentions

We know you have many apostolic obligations and tasks and that you receive many tedious emails that flood your mail day by day, and you continually receive a great number of petitions for prayer, but think for a minute: If at sometime you would be experiencing a difficult circumstance in your life, who would you go to in haste and in the first place? Wouldn’t it be the Schoenstatt Family, on which you can always unconditionally depend upon? And what better that along with the general petition you would know and also be certain that the Schoenstatt Family is echoing that petition, through use of this "blog" created precisely for this mission. "Interwoven destinies", isn’t that what our Father spoke about so many times? Works are love, not only good intentions…Let us to commit to pray for our own and in return the MTA, as Jesus affirms, will reward each prayer one hundred fold. Think about Pablito, Brunito, about Edgardo and so many others who are confident of our prayers. I don’t know if it is too hard or if it sounds too hard, comments Monina Crivelli, but the "blog" and the miracles that are worked by the MTA, thanks to the prayers of so many people, remind me of something that St. Paul said, "If I should speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have charity, I have become as sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. And if I have prophecy and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains, yet do no have charity, I am nothing. And I distribute all my goods to feed the poor and if I deliver my body to be burned, yet do not have charity, it profits me nothing". Let us recall his words, especially when we feel or think that with so many things to do we do not have time for more….
