ROME, Father Michael Gerber. The International Center of Rome is a great construction project at this time. The workers returned after Christmas; they continue with the details of the future "Covenant House". At the present time they are building the interior walls. The workers have to work very rapidly in order to have everything ready by Pentecost.

This is sort of a "papal" request because, as we know, the Holy Father has invited all the Ecclesial Movements for a vigil at St. Peter’s Square on Pentecost. Some 1500 members of the International Schoenstatt Family are expected from Germany, Argentina, Chile, United Sates, Italy…and several other countries, even from Tanzania! They will go on pilgrimage to Belmonte along with many other friends.

Taking their petitions to the Shrine.

The Covenant House is next to the Shrine and has already been blessed in December 2005, and will be preparing to welcome the pilgrims. At this time, a rosary is prayed daily in the Shrine for the intentions of many persons from the whole world. All are invited to take their petitions to the Matri Ecclesiae Shrine. Those who cannot do it personally can send an email to: oremus@roma-belmonte.info. The Abram family (who cares for the Shrine) invites the pilgrims who are present each day to pray for these intentions.

Belmonte poster and monthly news

During the last few days many directed their gaze towards Rome, when the Holy Father published his wonderful encyclical God is love. "It touches on many decisive points of Schoenstatt spirituality", commented Father Heinrich Walter.

To look towards Rome – is what many do since the 18th of September 2004 when the Shrine that belongs to all of us was blessed. An initiative emerged to have something like a window towards Rome, a window towards Belmonte. Father Michael Gerber has offered to send a bulletin with news from this Shrine on the 8th of each month; it will be ready to be printed

This bulletin could be used in the following ways:

  • To send it by email to other people.
  • To print it and to distribute it to other people.
  • Or, since the 20th of January it is available as a new poster. On the left there is a beautiful photo of the blessing of the Shrine. On the right there is no photo nor text so that each month the current news from Belmonte can be placed on that space.. In this way it the poster can be kept current. The idea is for this poster to be placed in several places (Schoenstatt Centers, parishes, etc.) wherever there are friends of Belmonte.

If you want to receive said poster or the monthly news, or both; your can send an email to: Michael-Gerber@t-online.de

In this way everyone can feel more united to the Matri Ecclesiae Shrine and its mission and it will help other people to unite themselves to Belmonte.
