WYD, Fr. Duncan McVicar. The world of media and communications is a multi-faceted world. The internet, emails, power-point, etc. have become fascinating ways to pass on, not only information, but message, vision and life experiences. It is practically impossible to estimate how many people, all over the world, have been influenced, touched, and even changed by what they have receive through the means of communication. For the past one-and-a-half years the Schoenstatt Project Office – in the preparation for the Youth Festival and the World Youth Day in Cologne has found an amazing ally in the world of media and communication.

These are the questions that motivated us from the beginning: When young people come to Schoenstatt, what do they want to hear? What are they looking for? And after the World Youth Day is over how can we keep the fire alive? In answer to these questions different short-term projects arose and are now available from the Project Office:

  • SMS from God: a leaflet – designed like a cellphone – in different languages that offers the four steps of "Footprints" – searching for the God of life in daily experiences. A short support resource for group leaders and parish groups was also printed and put on the homepage for downloading in four languages.
  • MTA Credit Cards: a small card for your pocket or wallet, designed like a credit card, in four languages, with the simple challenge: Christ and His Blessed Mother will always carry you - will you carry them? This will be available especially in Cologne for all the visitors to the Schoenstatt Shrine there.
  • Yourself: The Adventure – This is a small booklet with various mediations and concrete suggestions for the Personal Ideal. It has been produced in five languages and will be published by the Father Kentenich Secretariat. The booklet wants to help young people discover their personal vocation and mission.
  • Gospel Heroism: A pocket-book with meditations and practical suggestions in answer to the call to holiness. The booklet picks up the message of Father Kentenich’s "Everyday Sanctity" and makes his vision a challenge for young people. This booklet too has been sponsored by the Father Kentenich Secretariat.
  • Schoenstatt Info Pamphlet: This is a brief presentation of the worldwide Movement for young people. It centres on the MTA, the Founder, the Shrine, our mission and youth. The pamphlet can be used together with a video presentation using the same elements. The video will last about fifteen minutes and is designed for general use.
  • Karl Leisner Pamphlet: In answer to a demand for concise information about Karl Leisner and his message for Christian youth, the Project Office together with the Schoenstatt Diocesan Priests, has produced an informative pamphlet in various languages.
  • "Schoenstatt Live" in Cologne. A flyer with information about Schoenstatt’s programme during the World Youth Day is also in print and will be soon available for hand-to-hand distribution. It contains details of where Schoenstatt can be found and what is on offer during the special days in Cologne.
  • Festival Postcards: We also have on offer a set of five Festival postcards with pictures from the Founder, the Shrine, youth, with the Schoenstatt logo and the Festival logo. Without doubt – collector’s items!
  • "Schönstatt Times": At the end of our Youth Festival a special edition of the "Schönstatt Times" Newspaper will be available with comments, reports, articles and views about the Festival – its people and events.
  • "WYT Current": A twelve minute DVD is now available with an original presentation and report on the October Weekend 2004, when the World Youth Day cross and the icon of Mary came to Schoenstatt via a ship "pilgrimage" on the River Rhein. The DVD is available in English, German and Spanish.

The events and highlights of the Youth Festival and Schoenstatt in Cologne will be daily reported and updated on the Youth Website: www.wjt.schoenstatt.de and on the international Schoenstatt Website: www.schoenstatt.de Anything and everything that is worth knowing will be posted on these sites!

Also, there is the first and so far only Schoenstatt Audioblog: www.schoenstattblog.blogspot.com

The world of "Vision-Communication" goes on through the Festival Logo, our international song – "Dein Weg bewegt", "T"-Shirts, videos, power-point presentations, song and prayer booklet, and programme booklet. In every way, in any way, the Schoenstatt Youth have made a concise effort to bring the message of our Youth Festival and of our unique contribution in Cologne to the youth of the world! In other words: Creativity pure!
