SCHOENSTATT, mfk. The complementary process for the beatification of Joseph Engling opened on the 11th of June 2005 in Trier. This involves, among other things, the subject of his fame of sanctity, the question is: What does Joseph Engling mean to the people of today? "When I was a child I read the book ‘Hero in Daily Life’, it attracted me so much that I went in search of some contact with Schoenstatt", says an eighty year old German man. "I think that I owe my vocation to Joseph Engling, says a Sister of Mary, and Javier Cabral, from Ciudad de Este, Paraguay, asked pointedly: How can the youth from Ciudad de Este contribute to the process? The leader of the Girls" from Mar del Plata, Maria Fraguero Frias, was the first person to send a testimony about her relationship with Joseph Engling:

I read about the process of beatification for Joseph Engling, in the news section of the web page. What a joy! And I also read that they wanted to know what he meant to us.. Well, I believe, that for any young person, whether or not they belong to Schoenstatt, to know someone who is almost our age who was a hero before such a difficult situation, is an example to follow, who invites us to dare everything for our ideals, placing ourselves in the Blessed Mother’s hands.

He means a lot to me as a leader

Here in our Shrine, the young boys are conquering the Joseph Engling stone, they call it Pepe’s stone (Pepe is a nickname for Joseph). I believe this shows the love that he awakens in them, since they consider him a friend, or an older brother, just like Sister M. Emilie said.

And personally, as a leader, he means a lot to me, because many times you have to give up many things in order to carry out what the Blessed Mother has entrusted to us, and he was an example of this on the battlefield. He was also the "father" of the Spiritual Schedule and of everyday sanctity, something that all Christians are called to do!

He means many things for me and for all those around me, and I am blessed that I will be in Germany from May 8th until May 12th, so I would like to know about the meeting for the process, if it is possible for me to attend.

I bid farewell from the Shrine in Nuevas Playas, in Mar del Plata,

United to you, in the love of Schoenstatt and its mission, Maria Fragueiro Frias.
