ASUNCION, PARAGUAY, JKF Francisco and Annelieses Nuno, General Superiors of the Schoenstatt Institute of Families, are taking a long trip that started in Germany in the middle of June and that will continue through Ecuador, Chile, Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil. During these days they arrived in the capital of Paraguay to visit the families that are starting to found the Institute in this subtropical country. Joaquin and Marta Lavini, superiors of the region of Argentina, accompanied them at all times.

In Asuncion, on Friday, the 8th of July, they participated in the Holy Mass in the Young Shrine, for the opening of the Journey, the Mass was presided by the Archbishop of Asuncion, Monsignor Cuquejo, whom they greeted and they expressed their appreciation to him for permitting the development of the Institute in his Archdiocese.

A celebration of love in Tuparenda

Afterwards they traveled to Tuparenda where they participated in the Journey that ended with the Sunday Mass presided by Father Ludovico Tedeschi (who was visiting Paraguay, where he worked for many years), who now lives in Rome and who is one of those responsible for the founding of the Schoenstatt Movement in Italy.

In Tuparenda they participated in the feast of St. John, a manifestation of popular piety that is very colorful and provides much folkloric music, carried out by the different groups that made this feast of love of God and his Mother entertaining.

Visit to the President of the Episcopal Conference of Paraguay

On Sunday afternoon they visited the Bishop of Caacupe – where the national Marian shrine of Paraguay is located – who was celebrating his 10th anniversary as bishop of this place on that day. The Bishop of Caacupe and president of the Episcopal conference of Paraguay is a Schoenstatt Father, Monsignor Claudio C. Gimenez Medina.

On Tuesday, the 12th of July, they were in Ciudad del Este. Their guides were Antonio and Daniela Peralta (and their baby) of the Institute of Families. They visited the great dam of Itaipu, the waterfall of Iguazu and of course the Shrine of Terruno.

After Paraguay they left for Buenos Aires – New Schoenstatt – where they participated in the Regional Chapter of the Institute of the Region of Argentina, which we will report about later.
