Happy Mother's Day!An initiative of the Boys' Youth Group of Monterrey, Mexico |
MEXICO, mfk. Mother's Day's, 8th of May. "What did your children give you for Mother's Day?", is a question which is commonly asked of mothers, who tell about the gifts and actions they have received from their small and not so small children with joy and pride..."What did your children give you we asked Mary. And she happily told us...about the surprise she received on the morning of May 8th in Monterrey, when she saw the whole city covered with posters with her picture...and an affectionate, "Happy Mother's Day". These posters were made by the boys of the Boys' Youth, who also assumed the mission of placing them throughout the city,so that that all who saw them would remember Mary as Our Mother and Mother of God. "And it has truly been fabulous to go through the streets and to she her face everywhere", says Maria Cristina Rosales Lozano. "It is an emotion and a joy that worthy of sharing". The Blessed Mother went out to the street in ArgentinaIn 1992, the Schoenstatt Movement of Buenos Aires, Argentina, launched a similar campaign, offering the inhabitants of the city of Buenos Aires, the great Buenos Aires, and some locations in the interior of the country, a message on Mother's DayPosters, in color, of a meter and a half in size with the picture of the Blessed Mother and that read: 'Have a happy day, today and always, Mother", were placed on municipal buildings, bus stops, and in the metro, between the days of the 15th to the 20th of October, when Argentina and other countries of South American celebrate Mother's Day. The purpose of this campaign was to show the value of woman in her mission as a mother, and also to value the motherhood of Mary. Diego Barcelo, the promotor of this initiative, was able to give the Holy Father a photo of one of these posters, that was placed on the Avenue of July 9th, close to the Obelisk, in the very center of Buenos Aires. Some German Schoenstatters, who were in Buenos Aires that week, saw the poster and they took the bus thinking that it would take them to the Shrine..until they realized that in Buenos Aires the Blessed Mother is everywhere.
