SCHOENTT.mkf. Another 18th, the first one in the year 2005. Today pilgrims who live the covenant of love and who love this Shrine as the most treasured place come from near and far; they come on pilgrimage to thank for one more month in the Covenant of Love and to renew their petitions and commitment- "Guard me, and defend me, as your property, and possession..." They come on pilgrimage through prayers, contributions to the Capital of Grace, through letters or photos that are mailed, or they contemplate on their favorite place, their "wonderland". "Today being a pleasant, quiet day, I stop and observe a familiar scenery", writes Tita Rios, -who with her husband are diocesan leaders of the Diocese of Parana, Argentina-, when she received a panoramic photo taken on January 15th at the Original Shrine, which she has never visited. "My eyes can see I suppose a late afternoon and slowly I work through a little street with trees in the background and one or another building, a flag waving, it is a time of encounter, silent and cold, the opposite of this zone of heat, our summer. It seems like the snow has stopped, and this way I continue walking with mountains or sierras at my back, I am in the Valley of Schoenstatt! What a joy to be able to share these roads that Father dreamed about, that he blessed for future generations and today he continues to do so."

Dr. Eduardo Perez Olivera and his spouse, Lupita Padilla, from La Barca, close to Guadalajara, arrived in Schoenstatt on September 13th, carrying a package more valuable than gold. They were in Europe to participate in a medical congress, and they carried letters written by very ill patients, who receive the Pilgrim MTA of Health, through a 32 year old coordinator, Nidia Garcia Valenzuela. They learned about Schoenstatt through her or better said through the Pilgrim MTA that Dr. Eduardo Perez found in the hospital. ."It is impressive what Nilda does, he said. "She asked us as a favor to bring these letters, and we wanted to become acquainted with the place that is such a treasure for her and her patients. "With tenderness, he took the letters to the Original Shrine, leaving them in the jar. "Something special irradiates from this Shrine", says Lupita. "It is touching. You can touch heaven..." - "What has to be done to build a Shrine somewhere?" asked Dr. Eduardo Perez. It seemed that what he really wanted to ask was..."What has to be done to build a Shrine in La Barca?"

"I go on pilgrimage with the Blessed Mother visiting the sick, when I get out of work," Nidia comments; she followed the delivery of the letters by email. "Until now, from June until today, I have been able to visit close to 420 sick people. Enormous miracles attributed to Father Kentenich, terminal patients with cancer are healthy...I am reading, "On a conquest of all hearts", and that is what I am experiencing, and I know that the Blessed Mother will help me so that the letters of the ill will arrive at Schoenstatt and with Father Kentenich. It has been a great blessing to be able to carry the Blessed Mother; after 32 years of my life it is the first year that my life has been useful and meaningful and of love for our Lord. am so happy that Dr. Eduardo and Dr. Lupita are there, it is an enormous blessing to be there, and to have the blessing of going to all those holy places where Father Kentenich walked. Dr. Eduardo doesn't know it, but there are 1500 petitions in those letters.

Congresses, chapters, and changes

On January 16th, the third session of the General Congress of the Secular Institute of Schoenstatt Diocesan priests, began on Mount Moriah. The participants of the General Chapter of the Federation of Families, with couples from Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Germany, Brazil, Austria and Poland, left for Rome after finishing their sessions and electing their international council. On January 20th they had a private audience with the Holy Father. Norbert and Renate Martin, were elected as leaders, Daniel and Maria Teresa Martino were elected as 1st counselors, Ramon and Marite Marini of Paraguay as 2nd counselors, and Fernando and Maria Dolores La Rivera of Chile, as 3rd counselors.

When Father Mario Romero had to resign because of health reasons at the beginning of January, when the Provincial Superiors where at Mount Sion, Father Angel Strada was named Vice General of the Schoenstatt Fathers, and Father Jose Maria Garcia, who, until the beginning of the year, was novice master at the Iberoamerican Novitiate is the new counselor. Lastly, there are new national advisers of the German Families - Sister Gretelmaria Wollf, author of the biography about Sister Emilie Engel - and of the Mothers' Branch, Sister Caia Bernhard.

Solemn Mass on January 20th

The 20th of January at 7:30, there was a festive Mass in the Adoration Church for the Schoenstatt Family, to commemorate January 20, 1942, the day that Father Kentenich decided to disregard human intervention that would keep him from going to Dachau - for love of his family and to sacrifice his exterior freedom in conquest of inner freedom. The first letter for Father Kentenich on this day of grace arrived from Parana, Argentina; Maria Antonella Cerini writes: "Nothing would make me happier than for this email to arrive on January 20th at Father Kentenich's tomb. I have so much for which to thank Father Kentenich that I run out of words. In the first place, I am grateful for all the gifts and blessings, and for the abundance that I have received. In the second place, I place my longings, desires, miseries, and limitations into the hands of the Father."
