"After spending two hours working in the Project Office of the World Youth Day, two girls set off for Cologne Cathedral and told the people there that posters and information material have to be displayed. What will that mean in parishes when the delegates to the October Week return to them after experiencing four days of World Youth Day in the German Schoenstatt Family’s Year of the Youth? Two days after the end of the October Week there are no reports available, but the German Schoenstatt Movement set off on 19 October into the Year of the Youth, which should shine out like a star over their prayers and actions, their slow growth and decisive undertakings.
Before the delegates summed up their experiences during the October Week in a Mass of Thanksgiving in the Adoration Church, Fr Lothar Penners collated all the experiences and considerations that should lead the Schoenstatt Movement into the "Year of the Youth". The first part of the October Week had brought the encounter with the Cross and icon of the World Youth Day, while the second part, on the afternoon of 17 October, was spent appreciating the projects of the past Schoenstatt year. So, on the morning of 18 October all eyes turned to the young people and Schoenstatt’s youthfulness as Fr Penners pointed out the direction for the coming year: "Year of the Youth".
