This is the moment...

Der Augenblick ist gekommen…

En verdad es la piedra fundamental, ahora comienza la construcción

Really the corner stone... the construction only begins

HUNGARY, Robert and Rita Godany. "On July 3 we celebrated the Visitation of Mary to her cousin Elizabeth – and the Hungarian Schoenstatt Family awaits the visitation of the MTA to Óbudavár. In one of the smallest communities of Hungary, we are awaiting a big event. At 4.00 PM the celebration will begin: the corner stone laying for the first Daughter Shrine in Hungary." This simple message on July 2 was sent to the Schoenstatt family of the whole world. Fifteen years after the end of communism in Hungary, and a few weeks after Hungary became member of the EU, in the small town of Óbudavár, the corner stone was laid for the first Schoenstatt Shrine in Hungary.

Members and friends of the Hungarian Schoenstatt family together with Father Beller, Sr. M. Aquila (who laid the corner stone for Schoenstatt in Hungary decades ago), the Schoenstatt Girls' Youth and Boys' Youth, young women and especially many, many families from the whole country celebrated the laying of the corner stone of the first Schoenstatt Shrine in Hungary. The days before it rained heavily. For growth, it is important to live in the radiant light of the sun... So, on Saturday, God let the sun shine beautifully over the town of Óbudavár.

The place was so full that all parking spaces in town where taken, so the leaders had to direct the rest of the cars to the meadow.

On Saturday, the families of the 2nd course of the Federation of Families closed their conference. Nine families from the 3rd course arrived earlier for their retreat, and many League families made it too. A couple came, whose daughter and husband with their five children are part of the 2nd course of the Federation; the other daughter with her family, and the three sons with their families came, all as part of the League families.

The holy Mass was celebrated by Father Tilmann Beller, Fr. Richard Korzenszky, Prior of the Benedictian Abbey in Tihany; Fr. László Horváth, the fatherly friend of the Schonstatters in Sopron, and , Fr. Pius SMC, newly-ordained Priest from the Archidiozcese of Veszprém, where Óbudavár belongs to. The last one at the end gave the blessing of the first Holy Mass.

Now the Schoenstatt Family in Hungary is awaiting the next big event: the Blessing of the Shrine on April 2nd 2005!

Many Schoenstatt members and groups all over the world spiritually united with the corner stone laying in Hungary; a small group of professional women prayed the Illuminated Rosary in Dachau at the same time, with a special prayer for Schoenstatt in Hungary.
