Boxes and baskets filled with proofs of loveThe new Shrine in Ibadan, Nigeria, will be dedicated October 23, 2004 |
NIGERIA, sng. "With Ecclesiastical Approval" comes the pamphlet with the invitation to the dedication of the first Schoenstatt Shrine in Nigeria come October 23. "Yes, the Bishop himself told us to do so and thus to emphasize the importance of the Shrine," Father Alfred Kistler shared. "He wanted everybody to know that the Church of the diocese and he in person is glad with the new Shrine". The first Shrine in Western Africa, located in Ijokodo, Ibadan, Nigeria, is scheduled to be dedicated October 23, 2004. "A Shrine, a holy place, a place pf grace, a place of pilgrimage -that is what the Schoenstatt Movement and the Schoenstatt Fathers' Community in Nigeria is longing for. They are building the Shrine of Mary together with a formation house at Ijokodo." - The first sentences written in the pamphlet now distributed in Nigeria, bring about all the longing connected with this - as with each - Schoenstatt Shrine to be built, from the first replica shrine in Nueva Helvecia, Uruguay, to the International Shrine in Rome now being built by the entire Schoenstatt family. And as this like all the other shrines in the world can neither be built nor maintained only by the working of the Blessed Mother, the Schoenstatt Fathers invite all - really all - to help fulfill the requirement that is expressed in the simple words: "Nothing without us". My Gifts of Love"We would like you to join us at the solemn blessings on October 23, 2004, with boxes and baskests filled with proofs of love: prayers, fulfilled resolutions, gifts, efforts of an exemplary Christian life, apostolic deeds and acts of charity", the pamphlet reads. All are invited to write down their gifts - a form is added to the pamphlet to make this graphically visible - "so that this day will become a great demonstration of our love for Mary". Coming from Sango, turning right at Ijokodo junction, and from the Ijokodo market following the main road, one will soon see on the left side a long iron fence and the little Shrine - still in construction, but already now to be "filled" with deeds of love, to become a real Schoenstatt Shrine, a place of grace for Western Africa. The invitation to the blessing is extended to all Schoenstatt Centers in the world (please download from here): when a new Shrine is "born", it is a feast for all … Adress:Schoenstatt Fathers Congratulations, greetings, and to send contributions of love: Nigeria-shrine@gmx.netInvitation: Download (PDF) |
