SCHOENSTATT, mkf. "I proudly wore my brand new MTA pin … and nobody recognized it!", a lady from Argentina commented recently. "But that did not lower my joy and pride!" The small golden MTA pin she wears is the same that a nurse in Germany has at her white coat, and a pharmacist at hers… As gifts, as souvenirs, or as signs that identify Schoenstatt members, the low-prize small gold, silver and bronze Schoenstatt items offered since a year by the Schoenstatt Brothers of Mary Goldsmith Shop, keep being bestsellers. "I'm just thinking…wouldn't it be great when all the Schoenstatt people at the Europe04 meeting, at the Catholics' Meeting in Ulm, and in Rome would wear that Schoenstatt logo pin," a young man says, looking at the fine, blue and golden pin.

"It is not that expensive," his friend comments, "just 1,80 €, that's not much." - "We would have enough pins," Ernesto Kanzler, Superior General of the Schoenstatt Brothers of Mary and manager of the Goldsmith's Shop, adds. Since two years, the Schoenstatt Brothers of Mary started a new enterprise. Besides the genuine goldsmith's work on Schoenstatt symbols made of precious metals, they started to produce in greater numbers, at a low cost level but insisting on beauty and quality ("The Blessed Mother deserves beauty of her souvenirs!", what so far was missing in Schoenstatt: typical religious Schoenstatt souvenirs: the already mentioned Schoenstatt logo, as pin in blue and gold (1,80 € each), as pendant in blue and yellow (1,80 €), unity crosses in gold, silver, and bronze in small and medium size, gilded crowns, copies of the crown in the Original Shrine (between 7,20 € and 16,90 €, depending on the size), Father Eye symbols in gold (1,20 €) and bronze (1,10 €), as pendants, MTA medals in gold, silver and bronze, as pins or pendants ( prices ranging from 0,40 € through 1,10 €), and of course, the topseller where ever the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign exists: the small pendants of the Pilgrim MTA!

Several thousand have been sold … or better: have become a precious gift, a piece of Schoenstatt to touch and carry around, a visible "link" to the place of grace that the vast majority of missionaries of the Pilgrim MTA - those who day in day out give all and everything to bring her to the people and places where she should work - will never in their lives be able to visit… "Silvia cried in despair when she lost her little pendant of the Pilgrim MTA that she had received from Schoenstatt," a friend shares. "She thought she could never again get one. You can't imagine the exuberant joy when I told her that I'd ask someone in Schoenstatt to send her another one with the next pilgrimage to come there next year…" - "I'll soon need new ones," wrote Geraldine Kunc from England. "In March, we will have another Illumined Rosary, and we want to give the little pendants to the children who receive the Pilgrim MTA."

A service for the Schoenstatt family, a gift to the MTA

"It's a service for the Schoenstatt family, part of our apostolate," Ernesto Kanzler answered when asked about possible profit of having manufactured thousand and thousands of these little items with in the technique of injection moulding in Italy, China … "It's not real goldsmith's work, but this is not the question. It is a gift to the MTA, and a service. Very often, we have to return the sample items," he added. "The form of the unity cross is not as the original is, the colors are too bright or too shallow", he shares. Quality standards like with the items that cost several thousand Euro? "Almost, yes. The Blessed Mother and Schoenstatt deserve quality also in these little things."

Mid February, a new item was made available: small unity crosses, as pins, with color background: bright blue, red, green, yellow. What will be interesting now: Which color will sell best? Green, for Brazil? Or blue, the color of Mary? Or do the four colors match with the four temperaments? Other colors are possible, too: pink, brown, bright blue…

Good news for all who love the Pilgrim Mother: soon, Ernest Kanzler announced, the bestselling Pilgrim MTA pendant will also be available as a pin!

The items are available in Schoenstatt and in the Schoenstatt Centers. Rebate for bigger numbers.
