Schoenstatt, Mount Moriah Oskar Bühler After paying an official visit to Mannheim, his home town, the new Archbishop of Freiburg, Dr Robert Zollitsch, came to the Priest's house on Mount Moriah, which is, in a way, his second home. This was his first meeting as Archbishop with the priests' community that he has belonged to for 40 years. He was part of its refounding in 1964 and served for 12 years on the general council as deputy for the Rector General. During this time he also represented the community on the General Presidium of the International Schoenstatt Work.

The leaders and members of the Secular Institute of Schoenstatt Diocesan Priests wanted to give their confrere a gift for his consecration. But in the short time before the consecration it was not possible to have an episcopal staff made. They therefore chose 28 November to present it, with the Schoenstatt Fathers. On this day more than 40 confreres ended their retreat and the course leaders and members of the General Council came for their customary meeting.

"Welcome, Archbishop Robert Zollitsch!"

"Heartily welcome, Archbishop Robert Zollitsch!" was the message on a big poster with the episcopal crest.

With the member of the General Council of the Schoenstatt Fathers, about 60 priests greeted their bishop confrere with great joy. At the rock fountain in the foyer of the Priests' House Mount Moriah the General Rector, Dr Peter Wolf presented the bishops' staff as a gift of both priests' Institutes. In the chapel of the Immaculata they concelebrated the Holy Eucharist with him. In his sermon Archbishop Zollitsch spoke about the staff and its various symbols, and referred to the tradition of pilgrimage in the priests' community.

The International Shrine in Rome, which is a great interest of the new Archbishop, was also mentioned. Early on 8 December Archbishop Zollitsch would celebrate Holy Mass in St Peter's Basilica, and he would be present at the laying of the foundation stone later that day. As a member of the Rome Commission of the Priests Institute and for many years its president, he had first hand experience of the thorny road to this objective and was an enthusiastic participant.

In his table speech, Father Heinrich Walter, the General Superior of the Schoenstatt Fathers, expressed the deep relationship between the Schoenstatt Fathers and the new bishop and between the two priestly institutes.
