"Activate the Rosary to master your life and evangelize"In the United States, the new awaking for the value of the rosary due to the Apostolic Letter of the Holy Father has been a tremendous Instrument for spreading the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign |
USA, Helen Liccione, Isabelle Lutzke. When Pope John Paul II on October 16, 2002, proclaimed the Year of the Rosary, many Christians around the world held their breath. For those involved in the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign, it was a call to reach out to many inside and outside the Schoenstatt Movement, inviting them: Activate the Rosary to master your life and evangelize. Since 1984, the Schoenstatt Movement in the United States has promoted the Rosary Campaign begun by John Pozzobon in Brazil. In his letter, Pope John Paul II encourages us to recite the rosary in order to "contemplate with Mary the face of Christ." He urges promotion and emphasis on the rosary. He further states, "The rosary, reclaimed in its full meaning, goes to the very heart of Christian life; it offers a familiar yet fruitful spiritual and educational opportunity for personal contemplation, the formation of the people of God, and the new evangelization." The Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign is present in all 50 statesSince 1984, the Schoenstatt Movement in the United States has promoted the Rosary Campaign begun by John Pozzobon in Brazil. Through the Rosary Campaign, the Pilgrim MTA has traveled to all fifty states. It has been a very effective means of evangelizing and spreading the Schoenstatt message. In response to the Holy Father’s exhortation the Schoenstatt Family will strive to increase the number of leaders and groups in the Rosary Campaign. This will honor the Blessed Mother and be a gift to the Holy Father in preparation and thanksgiving for the 25th anniversary of his election as pope. At the Holy Father’s behest, they will include his new addition to the rosary, the five Mysteries of Light, to be recited each Thursday. In adding these mysteries, he has completed the compendium of the Gospel: these five mysteries of light bring forth for our meditation the adult life of Christ. Today everyone recognizes the turbulence of the times in which we live — economically, emotionally, intellectually, morally, and spiritually. In 1883, Pope Leo XIII, proposed the rosary as an effective spiritual weapon against the evils afflicting his society. More recently, the popes who, from the time of the Second Vatican Council, have continued Leo’s plea in promoting the rosary are Blessed John XXIII and Pope Paul VI. Be not afraid… to proclaim the rosary and reach out to othersIn view of the stress and difficulties of our times, people are searching for answers and solace. Now is the time for the Schoenstatt Family to embrace our motto "BE NOT AFRAID." WE must be the leaders who have the courage to reach out to those around us and help them to find the strength the times require by joining the Rosary Campaign. It is a fantastic opportunity to find your apostolic mission in the Rosary Campaign by guiding as many people as possible to become a part of this spiritual activity: Activate the rosary to master your life and evangelize. The new awaking for the value of the rosary due to the Apostolic Letter of the Holy Father has been a tremendous Instrument for spreading the Schoenstatt Rosary Campaign. |
