SCHOENSTATT, mkf. On October 18, 2003, when the year of the 90th anniversary of the Original Shrine begins, the first daughter Shrine, the first exact replica of the Original Shrine, will have its 60th anniversary: the Shrine in Nueva Helvecia, Uruguay. On May 17, 2003, the Shrine in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil will be blessed. The construction for the International Shrine in Rome will hopefully begin, as well as that of several other much-longed for Shrines. A number of Shrines will have a special anniversary. On May 17, 2003, the Shrine in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, will be blessed. More than 12,000 persons participated in the corner stone laying on past October 20, 2002. The ideal of the Shrine is "Tabor of Freedom".
Future Shrines: Rome, Lima, …The building permission for the International Shrine "Mater Ecclesiae" in Rome being granted, on past December 8, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Shrine took place on the land "Belmonte" in the outskirts of Rome. Hopes are high that the construction can begin during 2003. (…) In Lima, Peru, the construction of two new Shrines began on May 31,2002: one is to being built in Las Borjas, the other one in La Molina. With much enthusiasm, the Schoenstatt family of Lima managed to get two shingles of the Original Shrine in Schoenstatt for their future Shrines. In Nigeria, the Schoenstatt Fathers hope to soon be able to begin with the construction of a Shrine; the Schoenstatt Sisters hope to start with the construction of the Shrine on the Philippines. A dream is coming true for the Schoenstatt family in Hungary that hopes to start with the construction of the first Shrine on Hungarian soil towards the end of the year. The Schoenstatt Boys' Youth of Switzerland are convinced that their rosary project will soon make the Shrine in Valais a reality – especially as they were able to win some allies who join them in praying the rosary for the construction of the Shrine. The Schoenstatt Family of Nebraska, USA, also hopes that the Shrine will become a reality in a not too distant future! Anniversaries in 200360th anniversary: On October 18, 1943, the Schoenstatt Shrine in Nueva Helvecia, Uruguay, was blessed – the first daughter Shrine of now 175 in all continents. 50th anniversary: On June 20, 1953, the first Shrine in the United States, the "Founder Shrine" in Madison, Wisconsin, was blessed. On August 22, 1953, the Schoenstatt Shrine in Emsdetten, Germany, a regional Shrine in diocese of Münster, will be 50 years old. 40th anniversary: in 1963, three Shrines were blessed: the Shrine of the Ladies of Schoenstatt in Schoenstatt, Mount Schoenstatt; the Shrine in Belgrano, Buenos Aires, Argentina; and the Shrine in Germany, Cologne. 30th anniversary: The Schoenstatt family in Puerto Rico already in October 2002 began the Jubilee Year of the 30th anniversary of their "Shrine of Solidarity" in Cabo Rojo. Various festivities, with the Bishops of the Island and the Apostolic Nuncio visiting, have taken place and are scheduled; the actual date is July 7, 2003. On July 8, 2003, the Shrine in La Victoria, Dominican Republic, will have the 30th anniversary. 25th anniversary: The Shrine of the Federation of Families, Hillscheid/Schoenstatt, was dedicated on September 24, 1978 – the only Shrine of that year! 10th anniversary: The tenth anniversary of the dedication of the Shrine is celebrated in Quito, Ecuador (January 20), Antofagasta, Chile (April 17), Arica, Chile (June 5), Rosario, Argentina (June 6), Comodoro Rivadavia, Argentina (October 30), and Rawson, Argentina (December 12).
