Fifty years since Father Kentenich's arrival in the place of his Exile

The Schoenstatt family of the United States is preparing for the Golden Jubilee of Father Kentenich's arrival in Milwaukee on June 21, 2002. The motto of the celebrations is the year's motto: Milwaukee 2002: Your Gift, Our Mission. Father Kentenich, who arrived in Milwaukee on June 21, 1952, coming from South America, stayed there for 14 years of Exile that became fruitful. Among the special gifts was the establishment of the home shrines, and what he called "the new image of the Father, Child, and Community. As a spiritual gift for the Golden Jubilee of his arrival in Milwaukee, the Schoenstatt family offered a novena (published in English and Spanish). In the novena, all are invited to go on a "tour of shrines," a spiritual pilgrimage towards the Shrine at Holy Cross (now St. Vincent Pallotti parish) in Milwaukee, and to all the Shrines of the United States; the home shrines and heart shrines are mentioned as well as the stream of life and grace that broke through from the Shrine with the Schoenstatt Pilgrim MTA that made Schoenstatt present in all of the states of the USA. A Special Leaders' Convention - the first meeting of Schoenstatt leaders at the national level in the USA – will take place during the anniversary of Father Kentenich's arrival, June 20-23. Other Jubilee events are the pilgrimages from New York (July 3-8), and the pilgrimages of the Schoenstatt Youth (July 17 – 22: Schoenstatt Youth Together), and July 28 – August 5 (Girls' Youth).

Fourth Workshop on Bioethics: "Questions dealing with Bioethics in relationship with the theology of the body."

The theme of the Fourth Workshop on Bioethics that will take place in Schoenstatt, Florencio Varela, Argentina, will deal with important aspects in relationship to the Bioethics question in regard to the theology of the body. The theme of this Workshop will include the spiritual, ethical, and scientific approach from the genetic revolution to the organic integration. This Workshop will be sponsored by the Institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, the Interdisciplinary Center of Philosophy of the University of Puerto Rico, with the support of the Foundation Dr. Pedro Goyena. The perspective presented of the organic personalism is intimately related to the sacramentality of life in which therein the human body that commonly is seen as an object would acquire the corresponding dignity as integral part of the human life and not separated from its intrinsic value. In this horizon the contemporary issues of biomedicine, biotech and the genetic investigation find their correct interpretation and place. Among the speakers of this Workshop we are privileged to have sociologists, scientific, biologists, medical doctors, specialists on biochemistry and so on, and therein some members of the ‘Papal Academy for life’. The main speaker will be Professor Elena Lugo, Ph.D. from Puerto Rico, member of the Secular Institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary.
