May 2, 2002Paraguay: Kentenich – a Man, a Mission: Play about the life of Father KentenichThe Schoenstatt Family of Paraguay was looking forward to the month of May with pride and great expectations that can be expressed in one word: "The Theater". The idea arose, there, to make a play on the life of Father Kentenich. Under the title "Kentenich - a man, a mission" the play will be presented in the Paraguayan American Cultural Center, in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay. There will be altogether 13 presentations, all Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays of the month of May until Thursday, May 30. The tickets, more than 3,600, already are almost all sold. The Opening Night was an May 2, 2002. The net profits are for the construction of the Pilgrims' Church "Mary of the Holy Trinity" near the Schoenstatt Shrine of Tuparenda. More:May 9, 2002Schoenstatt: Deacons' OrdinationOne of the highlights of the month of May in Schoenstatt is taking place on May 9, Feast of Ascension, when Auxiliary Bishop Alfred Kleinermeilert, Trier, will ordain as deacons eight seminarians of the Schoenstatt Fathers from Belorussia, India, the United States, and Germany. The Mass will take place in the Adoration Church, at 2.30 PM. May 18, 2002Portugal: Ordination of two deaconsBishop D. Maurílio Quintal de Gouveia will preside the ordination of deacons José Melo and Diogo Barata. Both are members of the Secualr Institute of the Schoenstatt Fathers and finished their theological studies last December. May 18, 2002Mexico: Dedication of the Shrine "Mary, Way to Heaven" in MonterreyWith joy, emotion and profound commitment, the Schoenstatt family of Monterrey is conquering the new Shrine in material, financial and spiritual way. Thousands of Hail Mary and Prayers of Confidence were offered for the one goal - that on May 18, 2002, the beautiful place on top of a mountain is transformed into a a holy place, the Shrine "Mary, Way to Heaven", from where Mary shall abundantly bless the city of Monterrey. During the last days before the dedication, the Pilgrim Mother will pilgrim towards her Shrine: May 9 through 18, the Schoenstatt Pilgrim Mother will visit various parishes. May 18, 2002Argentina: Dedication of the Shrine in Campus Schoenstatt, Belén de EscobarBelén de Escobar is a location about 35 miles north of Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the diocese of Zárate-Campana. In responsibility of the Institute of the Ladies of Schoenstatt, a new Shrine of the Mother Thrice Admirable of Schoenstatt is being constructed there. On May 18, Bishop Rafael Rey of Zárate-Campana will preside the festive Holy Mass and dedication of the Shrine. In the evening, a Pentecost Vigil will be held. On Sunday, May 19, Pentecost, the Apostolic Nuncio to Argentina, Monsignor Santos Abril de Castelló will come to celebrate the Holy Mass at 11:00 AM in the Shrine, in concelebration with Fr. Josef Fleischlin, Rector General of the Institute of the Ladies of Schoenstatt. More: fimariareina@arnet.com.ar
May 26, 2002Burundi: Blessing of the Pilgrims' ChurchOn the Feast of the Holy Trinity, the new Pilgrims' Church in Bujumbura, situated by the Shrine in Gikungu, Mont Sión, will be dedicated by the Bishop of Bujumbura. The Church, dedicated to the Holy Trinity has place for 5,000 pilgrims. The situation in Burundi is still critical; more than 21,000 fugitives are living close to the Shrine and future church. The Schoenstatt Movement in Burundi intensively prepared for the dedication of the church during four months, each being dedicated to one person of the Holy Trinity: Jesus, the Holy Spirit, God the Father; the month of May, then, being dedicated to the Holy Trinity.
May 31, 2002Peru: Towards a new Shrine in LimaThe Schoenstatt family of Lima, capital of Peru, on May 31 will begin to construct the first Shrine in Lima. On April 24, the mayor of the disstrict La Molina rendered the terrain for the future Shrine of La Molina, which will be located in the area of La Planicie. It was a formal celebration with talks given by the mayor, the president of the neighborhood committe, and others. The mayor of the district and the neighbors showed real joy with the idea of having a shrine in their zone. They want to give more land to make the construction of a house for Schoenstatt Fathers or Sisters possile. "Our dream is to count with one of the Schoenstatt Priests' communities or with Sisters here in Peru," the Schoenstatt members of Lima are eager to confirm this wish. Peru already counts with one Schoenstatt Shrine, in Trujillo, dedicated in December 2000.
