Spain: Dedication of the City Shrine, Madrid

On the Sunday of the Holy Trinity, June 10, the City Shrine in Madrid will be dedicated - the third Schoenstatt Shrine in Spain. The first one is the Shrine in Pozuelo de Alarcón near Madrid, the second one is the Shrine in Catalan, in Valldoreix/Barcelona. For a long time, the Schoenstatt family of Madrid has longed for a Shrine in the Capital. The celebration of the 50th anniversary of the third milestone of Schoenstatt's history, on May 31, 1999, was a strong incentive to fulfill this longing. The preparation for the turn of the millennium and the events of the Holy Year 2000 finally led to the beginning of the actual construction. On December 30, 2000, the cornerstone was laid.

For the Schoenstatt family of Madrid, this Shrine is a gift to the city of Madrid and to the Church. One side of the corner stone has the logo of the Holy Year 2000, the other side has the inscription: "Schoenstatt for the Church in the world". The logo - the Shrine in front of the skyline of Madrid - stands for this promise and task.

Poland: Dedication of the Shrine in Bydgosczc

Twenty years after the dedication of the first Shrine in Poland, the Fidelitas Shrine in Swider near Warsaw on September 12, 1981, and ten years after Pope John Paul II dedicated the Shrine in Koszalin, Cardinal Glemp in Poland will dedicate the Shrine in Bydgosczc, in the Diocese of Gniesno. The cornerstone laying for this Shrine took place on June 27, 2000. Diocesan Bishop Muszinksi had officiated at this celebration. The Schoenstatt families' branch especially contributed spiritually, materially and through practical work to the construction of the Diocesan Shrine. With joy and anticipation they, and the entire Schoenstatt Movement of the Diocese, are now looking forward to the day of the dedication.

Schoenstatt: Corpus Christi Procession on Mount Schoenstatt

Each year, the Corpus Christi procession on Mount Schoenstatt - with the flower carpets on the paths - is attracting thousands of visitors from far and near, not only for the actual procession in the morning. All day people are walking the paths to look at the flower carpets. This year beginning a 1:00 PM a meditation will be offered each hour in the Shrine on Mount Schoenstatt: "Jesus Christ, Walking With You." Eucharistic blessing will be at 3:00 PM. Coffee, cake and refreshments will be served. In the morning, a Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 AM, followed by the procession, with another Holy Mass to be celebrated in the Adoration Church at 11:15 AM. The first Corpus Christi procession on Mount Schoenstatt took place on May 29, 1967 with Father Kentenich, who walked with the procession and carried the Blessed Sacrament for a time.
