Madrugadores facing Covid-19

ARGENTINA, Juan Barbosa •

The Madrugadores are a community of men who, together, by the hand of Mary, advance with Jesus Christ, towards God the Father. Can the COVID-19 cut short this ideal that was embodied so many years ago? Not at all! Together, truly together, we will continue on our way and nothing can stand in the way of our ideals.—

This is what echoed in our hearts in the face of an incontrovertible reality: quarantine and in the middle of Lent.

Difficult times require creative solutions, and for this reason, at “Madrugadores de Argentina” we have many and varied solutions.

Contagious Rosary

A proposal to pray the Holy Rosary quickly emerged with the publication of photos of each person praying in a WhatsApp group as a “spiritual contagion” that mobilizes others and as a way to integrate into a praying community that is not afraid of anything. Impeccable!

A Madrugadores Mass

Another proposal, almost simultaneously, emerged from another corner of Argentina: a Mass for Madrugadores and at 7:00 a.m., celebrated by Father Leonardo Di Carlo, from Mendoza, advisor of the Schoenstatt Movement for the province of Tierra del Fuego, and transmitted live on his Facebook account. Didn’t I say earlier that there are many initiatives and proposals at Madrugadores in Argentina, even in times of limitation?

In less than 16 hours, there were many questions about how to participate and the petitions to be spread among the different communities of Madrugadores in Argentina.

The “e-communities” of Madrugadores for these two initiatives were up and running!

Will we have the “e-assistance” of other Spanish-speaking Madrugadores?

In my case, I have enjoyed the Mass celebrated by Fr. Leo (along with 60 other “e-assistants”) as much as if I had actually experienced it in person. How much closeness and warmth the Celebrant gave away!
