The renovation is still in progress at the site. Over the past months, Pope Francis has had public showers installed and a barbershop set up at the Vatican for the homeless. At the showers, every “homeless pilgrim” received a package with a towel, underwear, soap, deodorant, toothpaste,Read More

Italy, Rome, Sister Maria Vera Lucia • On 30 April 2015, in the heart of Rome, in Piazza del Popolo, a very significant meeting for the Movement took place. On the initiative of the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Rome, Matteo Zuppi, entitled “50 days of fire”. It is an invitation to the preparation of the Solemnity of Pentecost. Sister Vera Lucia, who is behind every major event in Rome, formulated, a week before, a very compelling and convincing invitation, in which she wrote that the Schoenstatt Movement, likeRead More
Rome, Belmonte, by Maria Fischer • The best part is at the beginning: several minutes of original shots of Father Joseph Kentenich’s visit to the grounds of Belmonte in 1965 or 1966, when a great deal of imagination was needed to figure out that a Shrine and house for workshops would someday be on this hidden land, and that Schoenstatt would selflessly and humbly offer its richness to the Church. Great imagination or great faith and still a greater vision! His vision! The best part is at the beginning andRead More
From the editorial office • Easter close to the shrine of all of us! It is also “commitment for construction.” From April 2 – 12, young volunteers from Germany spent Easter days in Rome and along with the Reinle Family. They placed 180 square meters of paving stones between the main square and the entrance. Once again Belmonte has been home for these eighteen people. Among the “floor laying” youths there were also four Fackellauf runners. They commented: As Fackellauf runners, Rome pulls us to the heart of the Church.Read More

A special Holy Week…

ITALY, Rome, Claudia Minici • Under the banner of an encounter, we just completed Holy Week. The High Zoldo community certainly welcomed a group of students from Rome under Father Alfredo’s guidance that stirred the inhabitants of the valley’s hearts where sincere hospitality was found. Enthusiastic young people and families with a little carefree spirit have knocked on the doors of homes here accompanied by the Schoenstatt Mother Thrice Admirable, their loyal and faithful co-traveller and companion. Some of the local people’s reactions at first to the pilgrims found onRead More
by Davide Russo, Roma • Two new missionaries, at the Shrine of Belmonte, have received the solemn blessing at the beginning of a new pilgrimage journey to many other families in Italy. The Rosary Campaign grows more and more, along with the hope that many people can receive the good seed of the Word and to approach God the Father. The Mass ended with the encouraging words of Don Daniele, Rector of Belmonte: “You go forth, and leave everything else … everything else will be taken of by our Mother.Read More
Just as in former years, the Way of the Cross was held by the Selva Cándida in the deanery on the grounds of the Schoenstatt Center in Belmonte, as part of Pope Francis’ call for 24 hours with the Lord. It began in the shrine, and after traveling throughout the grounds for the thirteen stations, the Way of the Cross’ 14th station ended in front of Santa Gemma Church. The cross and the shrine shone in the darkness of the Roman Spring night showing the way to God’s pilgrim people.Read More
