On the threshold of a new stage in Schoenstatt’s history – Fr. Alejandro Blanco, General Secretary of the International Schoenstatt Priests’ Federation •  As an impulse and invitation to reflect, dream, study and listen together to the voice of the God of history, Prof. Alejandro Blanco, General Secretary of the International Federation of Schoenstatt Priests, following the suspension of the beatification process for Fr. Kentenich, offered schoenstatt.org this text in which he highlights the opportunity that we have to modify or even change accents, priorities and emphases in our serviceRead More
Brazil, Fr. Matheus da Silva Bernardes • The text published by the Schoenstatt General Presidium on the official schoenstatt.com website on 10 March 2021 is in keeping with the tone of previous texts, that is, the absence of constructive self-criticism and the complete inability to emphathize with victims of abuse. – Just when we thought that all of the issues around Fr. Joseph Kentenich, the founder of the International Schoenstatt Movement, were beginning to calm down, the emergence of new situations show that the matter is far from closed. ThisRead More
By Sarah-Leah Pimentel, Cape Town, South Africa There is a story that goes like this: A wicked king wanted to destroy his people’s faith in God. So he called his wisest advisors and asked them where they could hide the truth of God’s existence so that the people would never find him. The first adviser said: “Hide the truth of their God in the furthest star, where they can never find it.” “No,” said the second counsellor. “One day, they will learn to fly and find their God. It wouldRead More
Editorial Staff • “I am happy you liked the interview,” Fr. Angel Strada responded to the schoenstatt.org editorial staff’s congratulatory email referring to an interview published on the German Schoenstatt Movement’s official website, www.schoenstatt.de in December 2016, on the occasion of the change of postulators in the process of Father Kentenich’s canonization. We are very happy now to be able to offer the English translation of said interview. Fr. Strada, at the beginning of 2017, you will have surrendered your position as Postulator for the process of beatification for Fr.Read More
GERMANY, Sister Cordula-Maria Leidig • On Saturday, 8 October, the first “Belmonte Day” took place at the Father Kentenich House in Wiesbaden. During the last gathering of the Diocesan Council of Families, the first ‘Belmonte work group’ was formed, which meets around the 8th of every month (because the symbolic laying of the cornerstone was held on 8 December 1965, and the blessing of the Shrine was 8 September 2004; for this group the 8th is a “Belmonte Day”.) The gathering began with a time of Eucharistic Adoration: for listeningRead More
BRAZIL, Sueli Vilarinho • Sunday, 21 of February, the Jaraguá Family, the branch leaders and advisers of the Apostolic League of Family met at the gathering for the beginning work together in 2016. The gathering began with Fr. Vandemir Meister celebrating Holy Mass. In his words of welcome, the Rector of the Shrine recalled how to live the Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis as an extraordinary jubilee. He reflected how we can have a profound encounter with Christ coming from Mary, and how by revealing God’s face inRead More

Today, 50 years ago…

From María Fischer • This December 24, 2015, it is 50 years since Father Kentenich returned to his and our Original Shrine, after 14 long years of exile in Milwaukee. Father Kentenich arrived at Schoenstatt from Rome on the afternoon of the 24th of December of 1965. He arrived at Schoenstatt, on Christmas Eve, where the Family and the Original Shrine waited to welcome him.  It was a long time of waiting that ended that 24th of December, after several weeks in Rome until the decree finally arrived on theRead More
ARGENTINA, La Plata, Ricardo Moro • During this year, the Family from the La Plata Archdiocese will have a double celebration: on one hand we will celebrate the first fifty years since the blessing of our Freedom Shrine, and on the other hand, the first fifty years of the Father and Founder’s freedom from his exile in Milwaukee.  A celebration that could be triple, because fifty years ago, it was the Archbishop of La Plata, who in addition to building and blessing the Shrine, ordained the first Schoenstatt Fathers.  Therefore weRead More
GERMANY/USA, mda.  Fifty years have passed since that time when someone from the schoenstatt.org editorial staff was at the kindergarten and answered a question from the teacher about a city in North America with an amusing name “Milwaukee!” and to her confusion retorted, “what is that?”:  “A person in exile lives there, a person so feared by many that he was sent far away.”  A few months later, Father Kentenich – that was the name of the person in exile – left Milwaukee and went to Rome where he experiencedRead More
