“Communication at the service of an authentic culture of encounter”

NOTICELAM. The Pontifical Council of Social Communications and the Department of Mission and Spirituality of CELAM are already transforming this alliance into a classic to accompany the South American continent’s bishops in their training in communication.  In this case, it is about the two upcoming seminars:  one for the bishops from Bolivia and Peru, from September 1st – 4th, in Cocabamba; and the other for bishops from Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, from September 6th – 8th, in Bogotá.  Both propose the same theme that already runs through the inner workings of the Church in the world:  “Communication at the service of an authentic culture of encounter.”

The organizers place a special emphasis by underscoring that “this is the time for training in theory and practice – above all – the potential of Communication rooted in Spirituality and Ecclesiology of Communion.  Spirituality of communion that departs from one of pastoral conversion, it implies communication within and outside of the Church, on social networks and in the culture of dialogue, without neglecting the strategic planning of communication by using all the means that are available.”

It is significant that the invitations are signed by the president of PCCS, Archbishop Claudio María, as well as, the president of CELAM, Archbishop Carlos Aguiar Retes; hence the preponderance of this initiative is clear, and at the same time, it considers the role of communication in the life of the Church.

GENERAL PURPOSE:

To promote communion and episcopal collegiality, increasing among the bishops, some technical, theoretical and discursive to the new “communication environment” and the new social scenario. Thus, the Bishops will have new skills at the service of the new evangelization, through a coordinated communication strategy and integrating pastoral communication as a central focus of the Church’s action.

de aquí se desprende la preponderancia de esta iniciativa a la par que pondera positivamente el rol de la comunicación en la vida de la Iglesia.
