Covenant solidarity: two youths will participate in World Youth Day in Rio!

PERÚ, Queca Espinoza. On May 9th, during the meeting of the Schoenstatt Mothers’ Branch, everyone was invited to support the two youths from Callao so that they can participate in World Youth, that will be held July 23rd to 28th, in Rio Janiero, Brazil with Pope Francis’ presence.

It was a great joy to participate in an exquisite tea in the company of good friends, with the beautiful presentation of Peruvian coastal dances and tango, poetry offered to the mothers and grandmothers for their month, to hear Beatles’ songs and the well- known song of Diego Torres “Color Esperanza” (the Color of hope)… It was a joy for the soul that was reflected in the faces of the people who collaborated and helped.  The joy was even greater because it was offered in covenant solidarity with these two youths, providing what was necessary for their participation in World Youth Day in Rio.

The importance of the youth within the Schoenstatt Movement

This initiative was born through the motivation that was experienced in the Congress of Schoenstatt Communicators in Argentina, in November last year.  The participants from Peru experienced anew how important youths are for the Movement.  Father Kentenich began his mission with the youths, which is something that should continue forever.  For this reason, the ladies’ group held this meeting to financially support the leaders of the Boys’ and Girls’ Youth from Callao.  They attended the meeting, and they presented a dramatization about Father Kentenich.

They also had the participation of Cristian Patiño, who is charged of the Peruvian youth group that will go to the conference, and that of Father Paul Jaimes, who imparted the blessing to everyone at the end of the meeting.

“The challenges and dynamism of the youth”

were marked by Conference 2014 as one of the five strategic fields of the apostolate; the projects of this field will be offered along with the other fields as covenant gifts 2014. “With the same attitude as our founder, “Dilexit ecclesiam,” we bring the fruits of the covenant of love to the Holy Father and the Universal Church, with joy and humility: the Schoenstatt Family renewed by the Grace 2014, with our “servants of God” and our apostolic projects. As a worldwide Schoenstatt Family, we place ourselves at the disposal of the Church with all that we have: our currents of life, our projects in connection with our covenant culture: Omnia Matri Ecclesiae. We will ask the Holy Father to send us out into the second century of Schoenstatt’s history.” (Working Document 2014)
