Sanctuarium Vivum Mission

BRAZIL, www.jumasbrasil.com.br

The southern region of the Schoenstatt Boys Youth (Jumas) came together on 20-24 May in São Miguel das Missões/RS for the second edition of their Sanctuarium Vivum Missions.  Together with the Girls’ Youth (Jufem), they tried to live out their motto: “Sent by Mary, Heroic Face of Mercy” in harmony with the life of the Church in this Holy Year of Mercy, heroically becoming the merciful face of Christ to the people who would receive us.

After holding a pre-mission meeting at the Tupancyrendá Shrine in Ângelo/RS, we were sent out by Bishop Liro Wendelino Meurer with the missionary cross.  We formed a community of 61 missionaries from eight cities and divided into five families.

Each visit was always a reason to remain firm in the mission

The experiences in the homes, rosaries and daily masses at the St Archangel Michael parish were intense.  With great apostolic ardour, the missionaries triumphed over the rain, heat and long distances to take the Mother of God everywhere.  We had the opportunity to pray, share experiences and proclaim God’s mercy with each family we visited, bringing them closer to the life of the parish.

“Each visit was always a reason to remain firm in the mission, strengthened by the charism of our founder, by the missionary spirit of João Luiz Pozzobon and the faith of each one of those people.  I also had more contact with the Jufem, putting into practice the ideal Puer et Pater in a more concrete way, adding a great deal to what it means for me to be a member of Jumas,” This is the testimony of Vitor Castelli from Ametista do Sul.

May Christ Tabor continue to be present in each home visited

Immediately after the mission, the media reported that a tornado hit the town.  Despite concerns, there was no major damage to the town and some of the residents said that this was because of the care of the Mother of God, whose homes she visited and was so warmly welcomed.

Burning with the fire of mission, Jumas in the southern region left São Miguel das Missões, greatly motivated with this way of spreading Schoenstatt’s charism with the Girls’ Youth.  May Christ Tabor continue to be present in each home visited.
