The Santa Cruz de Turrialba 2020 Missions were reinvented

COSTA RICA, Milena Fonseca •

In the course of a pandemic year, the Eastern Schoenstatt Mission in Costa Rica was reinvented. The missionary spirit remained present to arrive this year at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Santa Cruz de Turrialba even in the midst of adversity and restrictions. —

The union of the team and Father Claudio Andres Gomez Martinez, priest of the community, made a new missionary modality possible.

The weekend day was replaced by fortnightly visits distributed between the Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning masses. During each Eucharist, the community was given information about the Movement and a little more than 50 rations of food were given to the families in greatest need.

Through your fire, Mary, our hope may burn.

Before and after each celebration the missionary team shared with the people who attended and gave prayers with the picture of the Blessed Mother so that little by little they would identify with her.

Because of the effort of everyone, the seed that was sown and the fertile soil of the community, the objective of every mission was achieved, and this mission has given the most fruits with the acceptance of images of the Pilgrim MTA: 26 for the sick, 5 for children’s catechesis, 1 for confirmation catechesis and 3 for families.

In spite of the limitations and setbacks, divine providence has always been present and allows us to enjoy today the wonderful results of the mission, which we also look forward to in 2021, confident in our motto: “Through your fire, Mary, our hope may burn”.

“Heaven is celebrating! The Blessed Mother has several Pilgrim MTAs of the Sick and of Catechists conquering hearts and families in Santa Cruz de Turrialba. Let us rejoice, missionaries, once again we have made life the nothing without you, nothing without us”.  A testimony reads: “The sending was very beautiful and the priest was very happy with Schoenstatt”.
