ECUADOR, Fr. Rafael Amaya •
From our shrine, from the Church, we help people in a state of chronic poverty. There are 270 families that we assist with non-perishable food, and we give them “charity bags”. Every first Wednesday of the month they receive the groceries, except at Christmas, when we deliver them on the 24th after the Christmas Eve Mass. —
The charity bags contain: 2 kg of rice, 2 kg of sugar, 2 kg of oatmeal, 2 kg of soup noodles, 2 kg of noodles, oil, butter, salt, tuna, sardines, and for Christmas we get a chicken for each family.
With this we help them to support themselves every month. There is no other support.
There are three groups of people who receive the groceries: single mothers without work, elderly people who live precariously and sick or disabled people.
God’s Providence helps us every month, and we trust in it, but if we find someone to help us with food or financially, we would be very grateful.
