Fr. Juan Pablo Catoggio, President of the General Presidium •
Dear Schoenstatt Family,
The General Presidium of the Schoenstatt Work has appointed
Father Eduardo Aguirre Cancino
as the new postulator of the process of beatification of our Founder, Father Joseph Kentenich.
He will take over this task for six years from February 2nd 2017.
We owe immense gratitude to Fr. Angel Strada, who has promoted the Causa Kentenich for the past 20 years. It has been a huge and complex challenge, both enriching and demanding. He was able to accomplish practically all necessary steps of the diocesan stage of the process. We thank him for the enormous achievement, for his sincere professional and academic commitment, and for his love and loyalty to Father Kentenich, his charism and mission. To many he gave an insight to the magnitude and actuality of Fr. Kentenich’s person and message.
Fr. Eduardo Aguirre is a Chilean Schoenstatt Father. He completed his theological studies in Münster, Germany. For many years he worked in the Schoenstatt Movement, both in Chile as well as several years in Portugal and Spain. In the last six years, he was the first councillor of the Pentecostes Province of the Schoenstatt Fathers and the Schoenstatt Movement’s national director in Chile. He is already postulator for the beatification process of Fr. Hernán Alessandri, and will also take over the cause of Mario Hiriart. We thank Fr. Aguirre for his willingness and dedication.
The entire Schoenstatt Family is responsible for the process of beatification of our Founder. Therefore, the General Presidium is the formal “actor” of the Causa. Fr. Aguirre has the support of the whole Presidium and may count with collaborators from the different communities. Certainly Fr. Strada will continue to contribute as well.
Pope Saint John Paul II once challenged us: „You canonize him”. May our „everyday sanctity“ and our loyalty to the charism of our Founder be the best testimony of his sanctity in the Church. We implore this grace for the whole Schoenstatt Family as we pray for Fr. Eduardo Aguirre and his collaborators and their new task.
On the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, receive my regards and blessing in the name of the General Presidium. From the Original Shrine,
Fr. Juan Pablo Catoggio
