Mario Hiriart is declared “venerable”

VATICAN, Pamela Fabiano/Maria Fischer •

On 21 February 2020, Pope Francis granted an audience to His Eminence Cardinal Ángelo Becciu, Prefect for the Congregation for the Causes of Saints. During audience, the Pontiff gave permission for the Congregation to promulgate various decrees, among them, the heroic virtues of Servant of God Mario Hiriart Pulido, a lay person born in Santiago de Chile (Chile) on 23 July 1931 and who died in Milwaukee (United States) on 15 July 1964.

In December 2019, Fr. Eduardo Aguirre published the news from the Congregation for the Causes of Saints that the process for the beatification of Mario Hiriart, a Schoenstatt Brother of Mary, had received the green light from the theologians who studied and ruled that Mario had lived the Christian virtues heroically. This was signed on 8 December 2019. His process thus passed to the Plenary Assembly of Cardinals and Bishops for the same Congregation, who during their last session recommended to the Holy Father that he should be declared “venerable.”

Thank you, Mother and Queen for this gift on the Feast Day of The Chair of St. Peter!
