A step ahead towards 2014: Commissioning of “Team 2014”

2014mkf. On Saturday, January 9, 2010, now for the third time a Holy Mass is celebrated for Centenary 2014 intentions. Each Saturday from December 19, 2014 through October 2014, the 7.15 AM Holy Mass will be celebrated at this place of grace, the heart of Schoenstatt, the common home of the entire Family of the Father; this was one of the first activities of the “Team 2014”. Father Heinrich Walter, President of the General Presidium of the International Schoenstatt Movement, made the commissioning of this team public through a letter published on schoenstatt.de today, January 8th.

The General Presidium appointed five members to Team 2014 during its meeting on December 1, 2009, and commissioned them to prepare and conduct the celebrations for the one hundredth anniversary of the foundation of the Schoenstatt Movement.

Hna. M. Luciane Machens, P. José María GarcíaThe two people who were in charge of the preparation for and conducted Conference 2014, which took place almost a year ago in Schoenstatt, will lead Team 2014. They are: Fr. José María Garcia, from Spain, Vice General Superior of the Schoenstatt Fathers, and Sr. M. Luciane Machens, from Germany, head of the Schoenstatt Mothers’ Federation in Germany.

Other members of the Team who also participated in Conference 2014 are: Luis y Pilar Jensen, from Chile, members of the General Direction of the Institute of Schoenstatt Families, and participants of Fifth General Assembly of the Latin American Bishops’ Conference (Aparecida 2007), and Sr. Kornelia Fischer, Managing Editor of the Press Office Schoenstatt. Luis Jensen is also co-author of Message 2014.

Pilar y Luis JensenSr Marion McClay, from Scotland, has been assigned to Team 2014 as leader of the Secretariat. She also participated in Conference 2014 – from the interpreter’s cabin translating Message 2014 into English. The team will soon be enlarged to include one person who will be responsible for central management.

The whole Schoenstatt Family a “Team 2014”

Soon, several work teams will be formed – and hopefully, the entire Schoenstatt Family will form one great “Team 2014” with each country, community, and person giving their best according to their very own charism, so that 2014 may become a new October 18 for Schoenstatt and the world.

P. José María García, Hna. Marion McClay, Hna. Luciane Machens, Hna. Kornelia FischerAfter working on the translation of the official letter written by Fr. Heinrich Walter on the commissioning of Team 2014, Sarah-Leah Pimentel, from Pretoria, South Africa – simultaneous interpreter at the Conference 2014 – wrote to one of the team members:

“Now I can officially say CONGRATULATIONS, and I’ll be praying for the many headaches you’ll have to encounter before that beautiful, beautiful moment that will make it all worth it!!”

That’s it. For October 18, 2014, any effort is worthwhile.
