Grounds for a future Shrine in San Luis

ARGENTINA, mda. When Father Alan Sosa Tello from San Luis, Argentina went on pilgrimage to Rome in the context of the Covenant of Love Jubilee, he took a stone from Belmonte’s grounds to place on the grounds of the future San Luis Shrine. In additon he also took the blessing of the Holy Father, Francis, from the audience to this year’s Marian Youth Walk and of the blessing of the land for the greatly desired San Luis Shrine. As a missionary of the Rosary Campaign Youth and later as a seminarian, he began the Marian Youth Walk. “The presentation of the grounds was very Marian, impressive. EVERYTHING: the weather, rain, clouds, youths, Family, Movement, Bishop, Governor, etc. God the Father prepared everything to honor the Blessed Mother,” he shared. “The Bishop’s homily was the clear sign that the Blessed Mother already had taken possession of the place.”

A multitude of youths, who belong to the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement and those from other parish communities, and ecclesial Movements went on pilgrimage on Saturday, November 8th, to the “Cruz de Piedra” (Stone Cross”) toll road, for the traditional Caminata Juvenil Mariana (Marian Youth Walk) in honor of the Mater ter Admirabilis. This year, the convocation called the youths to pray for world peace, with special attention to the message of Father Joseph Kentenich, founder of the Schoenstatt Apostolic Movement, and the centenary of the Covenant of Love. The motto of the pilgrimage was “Bearers of peace with Queen Mary”.

The walk departed from the Jubilee Plazoleta, a square located in front of the new bus terminal of San Luis, and it went northeast reaching the Cerro Colorado neighborhood, where Schoenstatt the Plazoleta is located in the district of Juana Koslay.

“5,000 pilgrims’ covenants were sealed, the youth contributed to the capital of grace, they learned about our Father, and precisely on the feast day of the Lateran Basilica dedication, everything was a Church celebration. As a Diocesan Family, we felt anointed and sent to the mission of the Church, spiritually united to Belmonte’s mission,” Father Alan Sosa commented.

Presentation and blessing of the grounds

After the walk, the Bishop of San Luis, Monsignor Pedro Daniel Martinez, celebrated a Mass on the grounds located in the Cerro Colorado neighborhood, where they hope to build the future Schoenstatt Shrine. Bishop Martinez explained to the pilgrims that the encounter with God and with the Virgin leave marks on the soul; and in line with the Gospel, he encouraged the youths to be builders of society.

After the Eucharist, the governor of the province, Claudio Poggi, signed the transfer of the grounds to the Diocesan Institute of Schoenstatt Diocesan Priests. Through decree Nº 8683, the donation of the grounds was established to build three buildings with a nested entrance, a guesthouse, and a multi-purpose hall, dining room, and a meeting hall.

Father Daniel Lozano, the representative of the Schoenstatt Institute of Diocesan Priests, celebrated the measure, adopted with the support of the Diocese of San Luis. “I want to express gratitude for this place of prayer. Without this help, it would have been very difficult to build the shrine. I cried with emotion during the Mass,” the priest stated to the Agencia de Noticias San Luis (San Luis News Agency).

Before concluding, the State Leader and the Bishop of San Luis received a framed picture of the Mother Thrice Admirable of Schoenstatt as a gift.
