The call of the Church to go out, to listen and to greet people

CHILE, Susy Jacob. Following the call of the Church to prepare oneself and to go out and to conduct a Territorial Mission, the Schoenstatt Movement initiated the Missions in Punta Arenas in their diocese. Approximately ten families, with fathers, mothers, children, grandparents etc. visited the houses of the new quarter Altos del Bosque, located on Frei Avenue, beside the Blessed Mother’s wayside shrine.

Schoenstatt took the first step in the “Territorial Mission” in Punta Arenas

On the occasion of the adviser’s, Sister Eugenia María Muñoz, visit, this activity was organized with the objective of welcoming the neighbors, greeting them, giving them information about the local parish, the priest in charge and the Mass schedules for all the parishes. Moreover, they were given a family altar, a sheet with prayers, a Rosary with an explanation of how to pray it.

Helping the Church as a family

All the missionaries were very happy with the experience of taking the message of the Church, of going out to take Jesus to other families, and declaring themselves as “Catholic missionaries” during their visit. And they also felt very favorably welcomed by each person who opened their doors to them.

Before going on mission, the families received a blessing of sending forth by Father Rodrigo Vargas, the parish priest of the area.

A beautiful experience

They hope to repeat the experience within a month visiting the houses that they did not reach this time.

It was a wonderful experience to be missionary disciples during this jubilee year, above all, supporting the Church as a family and manifesting the apostolic seal of Schoenstatt’s charism.
