The 16th Anniversary of the Shrine of the Diocese of Porto was celebrated on Sunday, October 16th, although the blessing had originally been on October 29, 1995. The program began in the parish hall of Canidela with the song “The Little Chapel”; the youth– the Crusaders, Apostles and Allies of Mary, presented a dramatization. Surrounded by flowers the picture of the MTA welcomed everyone with her sweet and tender gaze. After a lunch “sprinkled” with joy, everyone went in procession praying the rosary to the Shrine. During the serene afternoon, the songs and prayers wrapped everyone in unity and in complete accord with the infinite love of Mary.

The celebration of the Eucharist with Father José Melo presiding concluded the afternoon with: “… Our Shrine is an oasis, from where God’s purest water emanates. It is the water of rebirth, which purifies us” (part of the homily). It was almost nightfall when the choir sang the last song. The message left its mark: “I offer a gift of love for the holy source of graces that surges crystal clear from the Shrine…” (a part of the offertory prayer).
