The fire of Christ inflamed the life of the Youth

Mass, Branch meeting, new projects, Covenant Anniversary, new Leader of Pioneers Unit: it seemed that the weekend was too short for so much life and so many events that took place around the Shrine.

How many events of the Boys’ Youth can take place in less than forty-eight hours? This is a question that the Boys’ Youth from Sao Paulo and Jaragua can ask themselves.

Renewal in the Pioneers Unit

Pe. Alexandre entrega o anel de Líder da Unidade a CláudioSaturday night, the entire Branch met in the Zion Shrine of Jaragua, Sao Paulo, to celebrate their Branch Mass with Father Alexander Awi Mello, the Regional Advisor.

One of the outstanding aspects of the Mass was the official nomination of the new Pioneers Unit Leader, Claudio Goncalves, who had also been a pioneer, and on this day, he assumed the Branch leadership, which is a reference point for the Southeastern region. Since it is the oldest Branch of pioneers, and it also started Branches in other neighboring cities, which are presently very fruitful for the Boys’ Youth.

All those who were in charge of a group, as well as some Pioneers who were at Mass, went to the altar and along with the new leader, who received the ring with red ribbon, the proper color of the Unit Leader, and the Pioneers Flag with the motto: “Schoenstatt Pioneers open the way!”

Renewal of the Covenant

Grupo da cidade de Caieiras que renovou sua AliançaA Boys’ Youth group from Caieiras, a city close to Sao Paulo, was also present at this Mass, and they took the opportunity to celebrate the 2nd Anniversary of their Covenant of Love with the MTA and renewed the Covenant and their commitment with the Mother of God. Father Alexander Awi, the advisor, invited them to kneel before the altar to pray their Covenant prayers once again.

After Mass, the Boys’ Youth left the Shrine singing the hymn of Franz Reinisch around the Joseph Engling pyre. They joined together around this very important symbol for the youth and also proclaimed their motto.

New Projects

Almir Cordeiro, Líder do Ramo e o JUMAS reunidos no SantuárioAfter the Mass, the Leader of the Boys’ Youth, Almir Cordeiro, met again with the entire Branch from Jaragua to present the new projects to everyone that the Youth are developing. This included participation in the Mission Tabor Youth (which will take place in January in the city of Jarinu close to Atibaia), the Ver Sacrum Project, and the remodeling of the Father Maximo Trevisan House, the Boys’ Youth home that needs very detailed remodeling in order to welcome the Branch for its meetings and events. A team was established to take special care of the remodeling, and it is involving the entire Branch for this objective that will include carrying out the Capital of Grace so that the house will be conquered spiritually. The Branch Leader also spoke about World Youth Day taking place in Madrid in 2011. Some people have already confirmed their attendance at this event, and it is their intention to take a group that can well represent the Boys’ Youth from Brazil at this very important event. They then plan to go on pilgrimage to Rome and to end the trip in Schoenstatt in Germany.

On Sunday, the day once again began early for the Boys’ Youth. Coordinated by the Boys’ Youth, Project Ver Sacrum II began. Through conferences and experiences, it trains youth from the neighborhood and the parish to learn about the Schoenstatt Movement, and at the end of the program, they then seal their Covenant of Love with Mary. This is the second time that this initiative has taken place in Jaragua, and it is hoped that it will exceed last year’s mark when twenty-three youth sealed their Covenant of Love.

Sunday was a day of encounter

Grupo de Pioneiros que é coordenado por Diego e GabrielSunday morning at the Jaragua Shrine is always busy. The majority of the groups, the Girls’ Youth as well as the Boys’ Youth, hold their meetings and activities on Sundays at about the same time.

The Pioneer groups also chose this day to meet and to make more contact with the Boys’ Youth. Among these groups, there is a group coordinated by Diego Banuth and Gabriel Nacimento. It is a new group, but it already demonstrates its commitment to the ideals of the Pioneers with the weekly Capital of Grace and different activities. Between September 10th and 12th, the Schoenstatt Pioneers Unit from Jaragua will celebrate their Acampio 2010 (Pioneer Camp 2010). During this retreat, some pioneers will take a “Test of Fire” with questions and challenges to earn their symbols such as the shirt or Pioneer handkerchief.

Good news

Júlio Fabiano com o Pe. Alexandre AwiAround noon when everyone was finishing their meetings when several priests began to arrive to celebrate the community Mass that began the retreat the Schoenstatt Fathers were having this week. The good news for the Boys’ Youth from the Southeastern Region is the arrival of Schoenstatt Fathers’ students. Julio Fabiano will carry out his practicum until the end of the year, and he will be working with the Boys’ Youth by helping Father Alexander Awi.

One of Father Joseph Kentenich’s phrases especially marking the youth is: “The youth is fire, the youth is zeal.” The fire of Christ is also a vital part of the National Ideal of the Boys’ Youth of Brazil. Consequently a weekend full of many meetings demonstrates that this ideal is present more than even within the life of everyone.
