POPE’S PRAYER INTENTIONS • Hurricane Harvey, which caused death, flooding and destruction in large parts of Texas, USA, not only dominated world news, but also the private conversations and social media of thousands of people. Possibly because the impact and strength of the wind and the amount of rain were far greater than anyone could have imagined. Moreover, it deeply shocked many Schoenstatters because the Shrine in Lamar near Rockport and the Schoenstatt Centre were damaged, seen in unconfirmed photographs circulating on Facebook (we have not published them because theyRead More
USA, Carlos Cantú The Schoenstatt Movement of the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas, celebrated the Feast of Mary as Queen of Heaven on August 22, 2017.  This year’s celebration was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, Texas. This parish holds the distinction of being one of the two parishes where Schoenstatt had its beginnings in deep, South Texas.  Two Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary came to work at St. Francis Xavier parish in La Feria and its mission, St. Mary’s in Santa Rosa.  The two are now parishes sixRead More
USA,  Carlos Cantú • On July 16, 2017, the inclement, sweltering Texas weather took a holiday so we could celebrate the 75th Anniversary’s founding of the Schoenstatt Family Work. We miraculously had a somewhat overcast day with slightly lower temperatures.  We were able to go through the day without perspiring profusely as happens during our very hot Texas summers.  A real cause for joy and gratitude! The day began at the Shrine around 10:30 A.M.  Several meaningful items graced the front of the Shrine: the Cross, our beautiful crowned MTARead More

Raquel Guillen was the MTA’s chosen instrument to begin the Pilgrim MTA’s visits among families in Brownsville, Texas, and surrounding areas. With the rapid and fruitful growth of the Pilgrim Mothers’ visits over the next two decades, Schoenstatt Father Hector Vega and Raquel decided a bi-annual conference would be in order to apprise missionaries/coordinatorsRead More

Maria Fischer • “Then, I opened the door, and I found myself before the Blessed Sacrament. After this long trip through cold and darkness, tired and without even knowing if I would find the Shrine, I found her myself, illuminated this this warm light. It was time for Eucharistic Adoration, tears fell, and I did not care about anything else… I arrived and there was only joy within me, simply joy, within me; it is Christmas.” Gabrielle Pietro belongs to the Schoenstatt Girls’ Youth in San Antonio, Texas USA. USA, Carlos Cantú • Indeed, an auspicious occasion took place on December 12, 2015, at the Confidentia Shrine and Schoenstatt Center in Rockport/Lamar, Texas. Here is where the Schoenstatt Movement in Texas was founded. In 1948, Father Joseph Kentenich, our Father and Founder – while on his worldwide trip – was invited to visit Texas by the then bishop of the Corpus Christi Diocese. The bishop asked Father Kentenich to send Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary to work in his diocese. On Father Kentenich’s return through South Africa, he asked threeRead More
