Burundi and the “jar of solidarity” in the Shrine of all of us: A greeting of gratitude for solidarity

ROME/BURUNDI, Maria Fischer •

Although several months have passed since the jar from Burundi was placed in the Shrine of all of us in Belmonte, along with the “jar of virtual solidarity” on schoenstatt.org, virtual contributions to fill the jar with the “wine” of peace and reconciliation for this country still continue to arrive. Well! The violence continues, also insecurity and a difficult destiny await the thousands of Burundians in neighboring countries.

Those who attended the National Conference of the Italian Schoenstatt Movement in Belmonte on 6 September saw the jar (the basket) from Burundi filled with papers with contributions to the capital of grace. Concrete solidarity since the violence in Burundi has not been in the headlines for some time, and it is no longer a current topic of conversation.

An email from Fr. Claudio Jeria, a Chilean Schoenstatt Father who works in Burundi and has for years, arrived exactly before 18 September, covenant day, which always motivated Father Kentenich to renew his covenant with the Schoenstatt Family and with each one of its members.

Thank you for the solidarity with our Burundi

“Thank you for the solidarity shown with respect to Burundi,

We are in a very profound crisis, and we have a long and winding, difficult and painful road before us, until we can get out of it.

However, we know: That for God nothing is impossible! And He does not forget his children.
Evidently (all of us) need graces of conversion and “contributions to the Capital of Grace.”
Nothing without you, nothing without us should be our motto and our commitment.
Thank you for the solidarity with our Burundi, which will bring much fruit at its given time.
A warm embrace and my prayer of solidarity with you and with Schoenstatt brothers/sisters from so many places, who have heartily followed all our efforts and for your Capital of Grace.
United in the Covenant of Love

Your Fr. Claudio Jeria.”

We will fill Burundi’s jar of solidarity.
