Opening of Beatification Process for Fr Franz Reinisch

mda. He is so obviously one of those who has played a part in the history of the covenant of love – completely in the spirit of the “Great” Magnificat – that today’s news almost surprises us: Today the beatification process for Fr Franz Reinisch was opened. This is the priest who refused to take the oath of allegiance to Hitler on the military flag, and to whom loyalty to his conscience and his very personal vocation was more important than his life.

A martyr of faithfulness to his conscience: This is the title by which he has entered Schoenstatt’s history; this is the title of a video in which Fr Joaquin Alliende spoke about him and which can be viewed on the Chilean multimedia page “SchoenstattVivo”.

The Original Shrine and the Heroes’ Graves: Nothing without you, nothing without us

Already at the Conference 2014 it became clear and decisive: the picture to illustrate our contributions to the capital of grace is the Original Shrine and the Heroes’ Graves. Nothing without you, nothing without us. “Our shrine is small and unremarkable. What is great has always come out of the cradle of littleness”, as Fr Kentenich said in 1934 during the dedication of an MTA picture in a Cologne church. “We can understand that pilgrims do not go home before they have also visited the graves of the hero sodalists. There it is as though they hear Mary’s words: See how I have formed them in difficult times. I want to form you as well in difficult and most difficult times. … Today we want to place ourselves, our entire lives, on the altar for our Mother. The little altar requires living sacrifices performed at the construction of a building – people who see it as their task, the goal of their lives, to draw down the Blessed Mother.”

On the way to 2014 the Blessed Mother gave us the Original Shrine on 22 May through the generous gesture of the Pallottine Fathers; on 28 May she points to Franz Reinisch and all who have committed their lives – wholly and completely – to her work in the shrine and in the hearts of people.

Let me become an apostle …

Pallottine Fathers and some representatives of the German Schoenstatt Movement were present at the opening ceremony in Trier today. The news of the opening of the process has given rise to great joy worldwide. Franz Reinisch’s hymn composed as he prepared for death is one of the most popular hymns sung by the Schoenstatt Youth in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking countries, and beyond. They sing, “Let me become a Schoenstatt Apostle”, and some of Schoenstatt’s heroic spirit re-echoes in their youthful enthusiasm when they repeatedly call out: And dying I will smile – O dearest MTA!

If you want to hear and see it, Claudia Echenique of the schoenstatt.org team has searched for videos on Youtube: Here are some …
