The Synod of Families as a voice of God

MÉXICO, Guadalajara, Gabriela de la G. de Rubio •

The Sixth Family Branch Conference that was held this year in the beautiful city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, concluded several days ago.

Seventy-five couples from throughout the country were congregated with the theme: “The Synod of Families as a voice of God,” a Chilean couple, Luis Jensen and Pilar Escudero, were in charge; they are one of the fourteen couples who were invited by Pope Francis to participate in the assembly of the Extraordinary Synod of Families in Rome last October, and they belong to the Schoenstatt Institute of Families.

These conferences are carried out every two years; and in addition to the interesting and educational subjects, we enjoyed each other’s company in laughing and sharing pleasant moments with many Covenant brothers/sisters from the different corners of Mexico. The visit to a tequila distillery, a tour through the beautiful Perla Tapatía, and the joy of the mariachi and regional dances contributed to making this entire event a complete success.

Father Felipe Bezanilla’s farewell

The closing Holy Mass was celebrated at the wayside shrine, where we hope there may be a shrine in the near future. We bid farewell to Father Felipe Bezanilla, the adviser to the Family in San Luis Potosí that he supports from Guadalajara. He will depart soon to fulfill a new assignment serving the Blessed Mother in Chile.

We returned home with joyful hearts to continue to live our Covenant!
